Uptown Chefs is a unity of highly skilled chefs, great locally sourced products and an amazing service team. All of our staffs experience combined attributes to decades of catering experience. Our home base is the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Center, where we provide exclusive catering services to all events held at the Hotel. We hold ourselves to the highest standard and it shows with each successful event we cater. Our sales manager and Event Coordinator will work closely with you to develop a customized catering package; from there our Event Coordinator will keep in close contact until the day of your event. Our service staff will help with basic linens, glassware, plates, cutlery, catering equipment and our chefs will create food that will blow you and your guests away and have everyone talking about your event for months after.
Shawn Harnett began his career in the food and beverage industry 15 years ago as a chef before becoming an entrepreneur and moving into management. After 10 years as an entrepreneur Shawn joined the team at Uptown Chefs and brings vast experience in outside catering, event management and food expertise.
Chef Romeo knew at an early age that his calling was creating in the kitchen. He worked his way up through the kitchen ranks earning his Red Seal Certification, and has received praise and respect along the way. Since arriving in Kamloops from Vancouver, Romeo has received a number of impressive accolades including wins at various Master Chef and Iron Chef competitions and most notably, he was recently featured on The Food Network’s inaugural season of Chopped Canada. His kitchen is one of the hardest working kitchens in the city and along with this team, he continues to carve out a name for himself delighting guests with his exquisite techniques and unique culinary flare.
Our banquet chef Sambrusly John Devadose AKA “Sam” has over two decades of experience as a chef in the international culinary arts. Previous to this, he successfully completed his hotel management training in India. Sam’s Career took him to Dubai, all across the USA and aboard a world famous cruise line. After gaining all this experience, Sam moved to Canada where he joined our team in 2012. He has been recently promoted to Banquet Chef overseeing all of our outside catering events. His international travel attributes to our wide array of menu selections as well as very elaborate carving of fruits and vegetables which adds to the catering experiences we create.
Jessica has been an Event Coordinator with Uptown Chefs for over four years and brings a wealth of hospitality and catering experience to her role. She is dedicated to ensuring her clients are well taken care of and that all aspects of an event – no matter how large or small – are completely looked after. Jessica’s friendly demeanor and positive attitude have contributed to her success and have helped her gain and maintain an extensive network of happy clients. Jessica looks forward to working with you from start to finish making sure your offsite wedding, social gathering or corporate event is a smashing success!
Alix is our Banquet Manager and has been with Uptown Chefs since it all started, she is the brains of the operational side of putting on your event. She takes great pride in her work and providing the best quality of service. Her role is to over see the logistics of catering your event on the day of. Alix and her team will be with you every step of the way, from arriving to departing your event. Alix over sees the implementation of catering services and offers a large variety of experience.
